High school is a very scary place for teens full of judgment, peer pressures, social clichés, acceptance and lack of acceptance, boys, teachers that don’t understand, and who are too busy to care, too much free time, and not enough knowledge. These are all things that can hurt a girl for the rest of her life. These things are enough for her to find trouble where she least expects it. The following are things that a girl needs besides three people to go to if they need to talk to someone as stated in one of the girl facts. If all of my suggestions were implemented I am sure the pregnancy rates would decrease and more girls would not have to rely on “What [they] Heard About Sex” from others. One of the things not discussed in class was the need for a girl to have goals and dreams that she one day would like to accomplish no matter if they are short or long term foals. If a set plan is needed to achieve one’s dreams it is more likely that they will think about their consequences to their actions. This is one thing that kept be from having sex with my boyfriend in high school even after two years. I did not want anything to mess up my chances for success and the other half of my decision came from knowledge. Knowledge is power and the more facts you know the less curious you are wiling to be. If there were a support group of college students that were willing to come share their stories with a group of high schoolers and bring professionals to show the dangers of sex drugs and drinking they might think twice before partaking in those activities next time. They also need someone who is wiling to tell them that it is okay to experiment and tell them how to do it properly so they won’t get hurt because sometimes it is inevitable and they are going to do it anyways. It is more important to tell them how to protect themselves when doing whatever it is that they are doing then telling them not to do it. How can they trust someone who tells them no? They are not going to want to share their experiences if they think they are going to be judged based on the choices they make and have already made so some form of open communication in forums is key. Most people might be willing to ask questions if they don’t have to see the person that is answering their questions so therefore a blog forum might be a partial answer to some of these problems, as well as the other supports we talked about in class such as after school programs, ect.
